Sophie is a mixed media and textile artist with a passion for wildlife and conservation
After research, a rough charcoal drawing is made on handmade canvas. Acyrlic inks are then used as a background and the subject painted in oils. Fabrics are selected in the colour scheme of the artwork, taking into consideration light and shadows after which, fabric shapes are roughly added by hand. Fabric colours are blended and detail given using machine embroidery, a technique known as threadpainting.
The finished piece has a unique tactile and textured effect.
